Tamu enjoyed a few more weeks of sleeping, eating, and exploring before he began any real lessons.

At this point, he began venturing further outside the his den with Lyra or Nami and became acquainted with some of the lionesses better. He had yet to meet Lyra`s younger brother, Eto, who would likely play a large role in teaching the child about his kingly duties once he grew older. Eto, who was next in line for the throne until the cub was of age, had traveled down-mountain with the lionesses to serve as a protector and an upholder of law. Tamu was eager to meet his uncle, but understod he had to wait.

While Tamu enjoyed quasi lessons, he was never able to pay attention for long. It`s only natural for young ones to be filled with energy and always be ready to play. Unfortunately, Tamu was still the only child and older lionesses sometimes got annoyed by Tamu`s rough housing, so he had few playmates.

Tamu rolled on the ground and sighed in boredom. Suddenly he felt a hand firmly grasp his ankle.

"Hey!" he exclaimed, picking his head up to look at the culprit, "Hi dad!"

"If I was an intruder, you`d be dead!" the king smirked.

"Oh, dad, I think your the one who should be worrying about for survival!"

Tamu rolled to his feet and pounced on his father, but was quickly pinned by his massive hand.

"Can`t you let me pin you? Just once?" Tamu begged.

"If you want to win, you have to earn it! We aren`t handed things, my son. Not up here in the mountains."

"But-"

"You`re too young to understand. Once you`re older you will understand how much you have to work to protect the ones you love. You have to remain tough. And sometimes, the ones you are trying to protect won`t appreciate your efforts, but you have to do what is in their best interest, anyways, if you want everyone to survive."

Tamu would hear these exact lines countless times before he reached the throne. It was an important lesson, but one that the young prince would always be unsure about.

Maybe you should listen to your daddy, Tamu!
Or maybe not. Depends on how you see the world and the situation, I guess.

Hopefully you see some of the father`s character by this point. As this progresses, he will not be ever-present in the prince`s life and he may sometimes be harsh on the cub, but he care.
